DOAÇĀO DE $250.000
m 7 de dezembro passado, Jack Oliveira, gerente
de negócios da LIUNA Local 183 e o conselho
Eexecutivo, convocou a mídia local para falar sobre Lcalled the local media to talk about a special
um projeto especial voltado para apoiar a comunidade
portuguesa de Ontário, visto o grande número de membros
do LIUNA que sāo da comunidade e a necessidade de
garantir que os idosos estarāo seguros no futuro.
Jack declarou que o LIUNA 183 vai doar 1 milhão de
dólares a Magellan Community Foundation, nos próximos
4 anos, para ajudar na construção da primeira casa
portuguesa para idosos, no 640 Lansdowne Avenue em
Toronto.
O primeiro cheque doado como o ponta pé inicial, no
valor de $ 250.000 foi entregue aos representantes do
Conselho Administrativo da instituiçāo presentes na
ocasiāo, Manuel da Costa e Ulysses Pratas e a Diretora-
Geral Natalie Santos, que agradeceram o apoio do Liuna
183 para que o sonho desse projeto seja realizado daqui
há três anos.
O valor doado foi angariado do torneio de golfe onde
arrecadaram um milhão de dólares esse ano.
Parabéns a todos que se uniram em prol dos idosos da
comunidade portuguesa de Ontário.

ast December 7, Jack Oliveira, LIUNA Local 183’s
Business Manager and Executive Board Member,
project aimed at supporting the Portuguese community
of Ontario, given the large number of LIUNA members
who are in the community and the need to ensure that
older people are safe in the future.
Jack declared that LIUNA 183 will donate 1 million
dollars to the Magellan Community Foundation, over the
next 4 years, to help build the first Portuguese home for
the elderly, at 640 Lansdowne Avenue in Toronto.
The first check donated as a kick-off, in the amount
of $250,000, was given to representatives of the
institution’s Board of Directors present at the time,
Manuel da Costa, Ulysses Pratas and General Director,
Natalie Santos, who thanked LIUNA 183 for its support
for the dream of this project which will come true in
three years.
The amount donated was raised from the golf tournament
where they raised one million dollars that year.
Congratulations to everyone who came together to help
the elderly in the Portuguese community of Ontario.
