18 YEARS OF PURPOSE, PASSION AND A LEGACY THAT CONTINUES

Eighteen years ago, a dream was born: to transform communication into a bridge connecting people, cultures and opportunities. It was a project built with courage, dedication and the belief that our community deserved a magazine committed to high-quality content, integrity and credibility.

From its very first issue, etc&tal Magazine, a ten-time award-winning magazine in Canada, chose to follow its own path. We have always believed that every edition should deliver useful and relevant content, produced with responsibility and respect for our readers. Originality is part of who we are and continues to be one of the pillars that defines the magazine’s identity.

Celebrating 18 years represents far more than reaching a milestone. It represents the trust we have earned from our readers, advertisers, partners and contributors who have supported our journey and believed in our work. That trust continues to be our greatest motivation to move forward.

Throughout these years, we have produced special reports, exclusive interviews, covered major events and shared stories that reflect the everyday life of our community. Every issue is carefully planned to inform, inspire and engage our readers.

Covering the FIFA World Cup was one of the highlights of this year. We experienced the excitement of Canadian, Brazilian and Portuguese supporters firsthand, sharing unforgettable moments with thousands of fans. More than reporting on matches, we celebrated the unity of different cultures and the passion that makes football a universal language.

We have also had the privilege of leading charitable initiatives that brought hope to many people. With the support of our advertisers, partners and readers, we have been able to give back a small part of the trust and encouragement we have received throughout these 18 years. At the same time, we continue to believe in the strength of our printed magazine. Published in both Portuguese and English, it continues to deliver high-quality content through carefully crafted editorial work and an attractive visual presentation.

Have you noticed that, in recent years, Canadian media content has appeared far less frequently on Facebook and Instagram? This change followed the implementation of Bill C-18, legislation introduced by the Canadian government to ensure fair compensation for news organizations whose content is used by digital platforms. As a result, media outlets across Canada, including etc&tal Magazine, experienced a significant decline in the reach of their social media posts. Even so, our commitment to quality content has never changed.

Faced with this new reality, we made an important decision: From now on, the etc&tal YouTube channel will be our primary platform for sharing content and covering events, bringing us even closer to our community.

When you visit our website, you will find every digital edition of etc&tal Magazine, along with direct access to our YouTube channel. Subscribing is free, and it helps support an independent media outlet that has spent the past 18 years informing, connecting people and celebrating Portuguese-speaking cultures across Canada.

The future will certainly bring new challenges and opportunities, but the passion we dedicate to every edition will remain the same. We will continue producing responsible, independent and high-quality content, always guided by the trust we have built throughout our journey.

Celebrating these 18 years is also celebrating every reader, advertiser, partner and contributor who has been part of this story. Our commitment remains unchanged: to continue evolving without losing our essence, valuing people and honouring the principles that inspired the creation of etc&tal Magazine.

We have come this far thanks to the trust of everyone who has walked alongside us. Continue following our digital editions, visit our YouTube channel and be part of this story. Together, we will continue strengthening a media outlet that informs, connects people, celebrates Portuguese-speaking cultures across Canada and preserves a legacy built for our entire community.
