Green Brazil: A Sustainable Power Rooted in the Amazon

Green Brazil

Brazil has one of the cleanest energy matrices in the world. Over 80% of its electricity comes from renewable sources such as hydro, wind, solar, and biomass. It also leads in the production of ethanol and biofuels, making it a global reference for sustainable solutions — especially in a world increasingly affected by climate change.

But when talking about the environment, it’s impossible not to mention the Amazon. This vast rainforest, which covers nearly half of Brazil’s territory, is essential to the planet’s climate balance. While Brazil seeks global green leadership, it also faces criticism for persistent challenges: illegal deforestation, land grabbing (the illegal appropriation of public lands, often through forged documents), and threats to traditional communities like Indigenous peoples, river dwellers, and quilombolas — who have protected the forest for generations.

In 2025, the country embodies a paradox: it is a global environmental powerhouse with knowledge and resources, yet still needs to ensure stronger protection of its most valuable natural asset. The true challenge lies in balancing growth with preservation.

The future can be green — and it has every reason to speak with a Brazilian accent.
