novembro, é uma data muito importante para os

A data marca o fim oficial das hostilidades da Primeira
Guerra Mundial. Milhares de canadenses lutaram e muitos
morreram nesse conflito. O Dia da Memória homenageia
seus sacrifícios e sofrimentos.
Para quem nāo sabe, depois de uma guerra, os ex-
combatentes enfrentam a guerra emocional e psicológica
e diagnosticada por psicoterapeutas como conflitos
de guerra. Esses militares precisam de tratamento
profissional para a saúde mental e emocional, para
conseguirem retomar a sua vida familiar, social e
profissional.
As cerimônias do Dia da Memória frequentemente
incluem a execução de “The Last Post”, dois minutos de
silêncio e o depósito de coroas de flores em memoriais
de guerra. Em Ottawa, a cerimônia nacional acontece no
National War Memorial, onde fica o Túmulo do Soldado
Desconhecido.
As pessoas usam papoulas vermelhas artificialmente no
mês de novembro e até o dia da comemoraçāo, em alusão
ao poema “In Flanders Fields” e ao sangue derramado na
guerra.
O Dia da Memória no Canadá serve para relembrar o
alto preço da guerra e valorizar a paz. É um momento de
reflexão e gratidão aos veteranos de guerra do país.

The date marks the official end of hostilities during the
First World War. Thousands of Canadians fought and
many died in this conflict. Remembrance Day honours
their sacrifices and suffering.
For those who don’t know, after a war, ex-combatants
face emotional and psychological warfare and
diagnosed by psychotherapists as war conflicts. These
soldiers need professional treatment for their mental
and emotional health, to be able to resume their family,
social and professional lives.
Remembrance Day ceremonies often include the playing
of “The Last Post”, two minutes of silence and the laying
of wreaths at war memorials. In Ottawa, the national
ceremony takes place at the National War Memorial,
where the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is located.
People wear artificial red poppies in the month of
November and until the day of the celebration, in
reference to the poem “In Flanders Fields” and the blood
spilled in the war.
Remembrance Day in Canada serves to remember
the high price of war and value peace. It is a time of
reflection and gratitude to the country’s war veterans.

Hamas, considerando-os um retrocesso para a
paz. Ao mesmo tempo, Cravinho conversou com
autoridades israelenses e palestinas, concordando
com a necessidade de cessar a escalada de violência.
Além disso, Portugal foi um dos primeiros países
europeus a realizar uma operação para trazer de
volta seus cidadãos de Israel. Já chegaram 152
portugueses e luso-israelitas, além de 14 cidadãos de
outros países. O Ministro Cravinho lamentou a morte
de uma jovem luso-israelita e informou que quatro
portugueses ainda estāo desaparecidos. Um novo voo
está programado para buscar mais compatriotas.
O governo português segue monitorando a situação
no Oriente Médio e está preparado para prestar
assistência adicional, caso necessário, aos cidadãos
que ainda permanecem em Israel. O país condena
ataques contra civis, mas pede o fim das hostilidades
de ambos os lados.

CITIZENS FROM THE CONFLICT
WITH HAMAS
he recent conflict between Israel and the
Hamas group generated diverse reactions in
the Minister of Foreign Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho,
expressed solidarity with Israel and condemned
the Hamas attacks, considering them a setback for
peace. At the same time, Cravinho spoke with Israeli
and Palestinian authorities, agreeing on the need to
stop the escalation of violence.
Furthermore, Portugal was one of the first European
countries to carry out an operation to bring back its
citizens from Israel. 152 Portuguese and Portuguese-
Israelis have already arrived, in addition to 14 citizens
from other countries. Minister Cravinho lamented
the death of a young Portuguese-Israeli woman and
reported that four Portuguese people are still missing.
A new flight is scheduled to pick up more compatriots.
The Portuguese government continues to monitor the
situation in the Middle East and is prepared to provide
additional assistance, if necessary, to citizens still
remaining in Israel. The country condemns attacks
against civilians, but calls for an end to hostilities on
both sides.
